Rift: Planes of Telara Producer Adam Gershowitz answers a few questions from the fans on our official community forums. Without revealing too much information before E3, Adam wanted to address a few subjects the fans have been asking about. This is part 2 of Adam’s answers.
Will falling into water cause damage or can we feel free to have high dive competitions?
Adam: Feel free to have as many high dive competitions as you want! There won’t be any damage if you land in deep enough water. However, be warned! If you dive into somewhere you don’t belong – you could drown trying to find your way back to dry land. Simon Ffinch (our Design Director) just mentioned the possibility of creating an achievement for the highest dive. That’d be something to look forward to!
I have noticed the challenge or difficulty level in new MMOs has declined to the point where one can fight without paying much attention, without having to push a class, or ever use most of its tricks and abilities. Do you plan to offer any varying degrees or difficulty in content while leveling up?
Adam: In general, Rift will have something for everyone. For example, a lot of our content can be completed solo, but we also have a lot of content that you really need to experience with lots of friends. That being said, even our solo content is being designed so that monsters have a variety of different special abilities and tactics to use against you. These encounters will vary in difficulty and style and will require different strategies and skills to defeat them, particularly when playing solo. There will be no lack of challenges while adventuring through the world of Telara.
Will guilds have any sort of leveling or advancement system? If so will the rewards be significant?
Adam: We really can’t go into too much detail about this yet. But we think that you’re going to be happy with what we have to say about guilds when the time comes!
We want to thank all of our fans for asking great questions on the forums! There are still a lot of subjects we can’t really discuss at this point and time, but we will definitely have more for you very soon.
Over on the official Rift forums, Trion Worlds’ Assistant Community Manager, Jessica (jives) Ives, collected various questions scattered around the forum and handed them over to Scott Hartsman, Creative Chief Officer, to answer. Scott didn’t disappoint with his answers, as he gave information about upcoming class releases, server rule sets, factions and lore.
In the thread, Jessica stated these community QnA’s would possibly become a regular event on a weekly bases! To make life easier for everyone, I’ve created a new thread for the community to post our questions in one centralized location.
